Adrienne Thomas

I am currently in my 19th year of teaching.  My husband is active duty Army, so I have had the opportunity to teach in seven fabulous states, and learn from many gifted educators.  We are PCSing from Fort Campbell, KY to Fort Bragg, NC in June! We are so excited to be coming back to North Carolina, because we consider it home. We hope to stay forever this time :)
I have a passion for early literacy, and STEAM integration in the classroom. I am also very passionate about teaching with the whole child in mind, and believe all children can learn and succeed given the right opportunities. I feel so lucky to have taught all over the country!  I earned my degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  I taught all content areas in 5th and 6th grades, in addition to being a Reading Specialist for grades K-5 in Ohio for 8 years. I then earned my Master's Degree in Education, and moved to North Carolina where I taught all day Kindergarten for three years.  During that time I met and married my husband.  We were reassigned to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO where I taught all day Kindergarten for two years.  Our next PCS took us to Washington D.C., where I taught first grade in a nationally recognized school district. We moved to Washington State and I taught all day Kindergarten, and First grade at Lacey Elementary in Lacey, WA. We were temporarily at Fort Polk, and I was able to teach the second half the school year in a first grade classroom. We pcs'd to Fort Campbell in 2017, and I am currently teaching first grade with CMCSS in Clarksville, TN.  We can't wait to get back to NC! My husband and I have a beautiful daughter named Berkeley, a Miniature Pinscher (Cami), and a Yorkie (Benny).  I have a passion for teaching, helping others, baking, my family and friends, shopping, the beach, and Steeler football!!
